Digi Ed Menu

Overview
Digi Ed provides ICT workshops for students, teachers and corporations using claymation because we believe engagement is central to all learning tasks and worthwhile experiences. All educational workshops are five hour sessions and participants register and make payment to attend on a fee for service basis.

Digi Ed workshops:

  • explore the application of iMovie and Stop Motion software in the classroom and develop effective teaching strategies that assist students to build essential thinking and communication skills.
  • examine simple technology tasks that can make content relevant and explore curriculum outcomes through writing, editing and producing a short animation.
  • employ specialist presenters and animators to work productively with teachers to improve their professional knowledge and practice.
  • encourage teachers to design high quality teaching and learning strategies that reflect the aims of syllabus documents and can be successfully implemented within the classroom.

Registration

  • participants must register a completed registration form online at least five (5) days prior to the designated workshop
  • class sizes are limited
  • if a workshop is full an applicant can be placed on the waiting list at no cost
  • payment is due prior to workshop but only after confirmation of placement
  • a statement of attendance is provided to each participant who completes the workshop

Fees

  • advertised in advance
  • paid only after receiving confirmation and prior to workshop
  • registration is valid on full payment of fees

Refunds
A full refund of fees paid will be provided where a participant gives more than 5 working days’ notice of non-attendance. Digi Ed reserves the right to review individual applications for refunds for cancelled workshops on a discretionary basis and all refunds will be processed within a week received. A late withdrawal fee may be charged if advised less than 5 working days’ prior to the workshop but late name changes for replacements are acceptable and transfers from one workshop date to another are possible if there is a vacancy.

Cancellation
Digi Ed recognises that cancellations are sometimes necessary and reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances or if the number of registrations is insufficient. Registered participants will be contacted as soon as possible if any workshop is cancelled due for any reason.

Prerequisite Knowledge
Digi Ed provides professional development for teachers that develop effective teaching strategies that consolidates ICT skills and assist in its integration into learning and teaching programs in the classroom. Understanding of the National Curriculum general capabilities is assumed with a particular focus on ICT and creative thinking. Existing knowledge of the NSW Quality Teaching Framework is assumed.

  • Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the level of Proficient Teacher
    2.6.2, 3.3.2, 3.4.2, 4.5.2, 6.3.2
  • NSW Professional Teaching Standards at Professional Competence
    1.2.4, 4.2.5, 3.2.4, 5.2.7, 6.2.4, 6.2.6

Course Evaluation
Digi Ed requires all evaluation of courses and workshops to be methodical, regular and effective to ensure they contribute to learning as intended. Evaluation is conducted ethically and presenters are encouraged to evaluate their performance to identify strengths and areas for refinement in the light of evaluation data and then to adapt or develop changes to the design or delivery of future workshops.

Health & Safety
Digi Ed manages Health and Safety responsibly and is committed to take effective measures to minimize or control risk for staff and participants. The DigiEd Risk Assessment is current and updated regularly. Presenters are made aware of risks and health and safety issues to ensure the safety of all participants and are responsible for ensuring all participants:

  • keep the workshop space clean and tidy
  • seek instruction before using an unfamiliar piece of equipment
  • use tools for their intended purpose
  • report all damaged equipment and do not use it until repaired
  • report all hazards and unsafe conditions and work practices

Overview
Digi Ed Pty Ltd supports the rights of a participant to lodge a grievance or complaint and will do everything possible to address grievances or complaints in an unbiased and professional manner. Complaints are welcomed as an opportunity to review and improve practices and provide an opportunity to improve delivery of our courses. They assist us to gain insight into levels of satisfaction ensuring that we identify and overcome problems.

Procedure

  • All complaints should be committed to in writing at the earliest possible opportunity and sent by email to complaints@digied.com.au This will constitute a formal complaint from the student.
  • The CEO is informed through receipt of all student complaints emails and will initiate a transparent, participative process to deal with the issues at hand.
  • Complaints are to be resolved within 10 working days of the initial application.
  • The CEO makes a determination and notifies the complainant of the outcome via email.
  • The outcome may be an agreement between the parties, an apology, ensuring the conduct will not occur again and/ or a refund if applicable.
  • The CEO’s decision will be final. If the outcome is not to the satisfaction of the student, they may contact the CEO to discuss their concerns. The client has the option to seek outside assistance to pursue the complaint.
  • All complaints will be handled as staff-In-confidence.

Fees
There are no fees for lodging a complaint.

Complainant’s Responsibility
All complaints must be provided in writing and clearly identify the issues along with any relevant supporting information and documents. Where possible, please advise the result or outcome that is hoped will be achieved.

Anonymous Complaints
Digi Ed Pty Ltd accepts anonymous complaints; however it is up to the discretion of the CEO to determine further action. In all cases, anonymous complaints and actions taken will be recorded.

Training
The CEO is responsible for organising and co-ordinating training for presenters to deal with and respond effectively to complaints.

Overview
Evaluation is a systematic way to collect information about the characteristics of a course and assists in making judgments on the value of an activity or the competency of a student. In order to be evaluated, evidence is provided that demonstrates essential knowledge and skills while competency is demonstrating that tasks can be performed with confidence to the required standard.
Course evaluation can help determine if a course is functioning as intended; is consistent with the outcomes stated; is contributing to learning as proposed in the objectives; and if it assists in identifying areas for improvement.
Digi Ed Pty Ltd is committed to high quality course evaluation and the implementation of supporting policies and processes. All evaluation is conducted ethically and participatory and consultative processes are valued.

Responsibilities
Digi Ed presenters are encouraged to evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within workshops by linking the workshop evaluation process with presenter‘s performance.
Evaluation of courses is the responsibility of each Digi Ed presenter.
Compliance with this policy is the responsibility of the CEO.

Overview
Digi Ed Pty Ltd is committed to providing systematic and continuous monitoring and improvement of its courses, teaching and assessment strategies, operations and management systems. A range of sources are used to monitor transparent collection of data and by continually reviewing courses and presenters, areas are identified for improvement and support consistency of learning opportunities to ensure the maintenance of standards.
Procedures

Step 1: Consultation
Participant evaluation forms are completed and collected at the end of every workshop for review by presenters.
Quality Assurance Checklist is recorded and filed as a report by each presenter on the completion of courses.
Course reports are submitted to the CEO for scrutiny.
One to one meetings with relevant presenters may be held to clarify or expand on any issues.
Staff meetings are held monthly and minutes and agreed actions are recorded.
Complaints and appeals are reviewed and satisfactory resolutions are sought.
Course Review Meetings are held quarterly with CEO and all presenters to review performance and identify key issues. Minutes and action plans are recorded.

Step 2: Reviewing data
Digi Ed Pty Ltd will review data that is relevant to course outcomes and sufficient to make accurate assessments about the quality of teaching and assessment strategies, management and operations.
Evaluation forms and questionnaires are collected post workshop and stored confidentially.
Presenters review evaluation forms and reports.
CEO ensures action plans are implemented for improvement where necessary.
Complaints and appeals resolutions will be reviewed regularly by the CEO to ensure that areas for improvement are efficient and effective.
Continuous Monitoring and Improvement Plan is updated regularly throughout the year.

Step 3: Implementation and demonstration of improvements
It is the responsibility of the CEO to ensure that presenters and/or staff are made aware of the improvements to be implemented.
Relevant policies and procedures, resources or assessments must be revised by the CEO to reflect the changes.
Professional development activities may be provided to presenters to allow each to develop their techniques of delivery and in turn demonstrate improvement in the quality of workshops.

Step 4: Feedback
Feedback is provided on request to those who have contributed to the data for continuous improvement.
Feedback includes information about data collected, analysis and what and how changes will be implemented.

Step 5: Ongoing Monitoring
The ongoing monitoring of revised processes will occur in light of further data.

Overview
This policy informs how Digi Ed Pty Ltd collects, uses and discloses personal information, and how individuals may access their personal information. We seek to protect the privacy of individuals and abide by the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth).
Digi Ed Pty Ltd only collects information for the primary purpose of providing professional development courses and takes all reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorized access, modification or disclosure including restricted access to electronic files, secure storage of paper files and back up of data.

Collection
Personal Information is obtained through interviews, correspondence, telephone, facsimile, email and via the Digi Ed website. This information is collected for the primary purpose of providing professional development courses and we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.

Personal Information
Personal information is a fact or opinion that identifies an individual and may include names, addresses, email addresses, phone and facsimile numbers. Government identifiers such as Medicare numbers or Tax File numbers will not be requested or used as any identification number.
Individuals have the right to access their personal information held by Digi Ed Pty Ltd and to update it, if necessary. Normal administrative practice allows for the routine handling of information like invoices, certification or changes of address. There is no fee to access your own personal information but all requests must be put in writing and suitable identification is required before any information is released.

Disclosure
Personal Information may only be disclosed to third parties where an individual consents to the use or in exceptional circumstances where required or authorised by law.
Information is stored in client files and when it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, all reasonable steps are taken to destroy or permanently de-identify it.

Online Activities
Digi Ed Pty Ltd retains personal information supplied online to ensure transactions are processed correctly and may use the name and address to inform you of new publications or information.
Digi Ed Pty Ltd protects personal information of website users by destroying identifying credit card numbers after the transaction is completed and not using credit card details for any other purpose.
Derivan Pty Ltd uses remarketing strategies to advertise online. Third-party vendors may show our advertisements on websites across the internet. They may use cookies to serve advertisements based on someone’s past visits to our website.

Access
This Policy is updated when required and is available on our website.

Overview
Discrimination occurs when someone is treated unfairly because they happen to belong to a particular group of people, or have a particular characteristic. It is often the result of prejudice or negative stereotyping based on ignorance, fear or naivety.

The Anti-Discrimination Board of NSW administers the anti-discrimination laws. Both direct and indirect discrimination are against the law.

Forms of Discrimination
Direct discrimination – treatment is unfair compared to someone else in the same circumstances
eg: an employer won’t hire someone just because they are a female; this is direct sex discrimination.
Indirect discrimination – a requirement is the same for everyone but has an effect that is unequal and unreasonable having regard to the circumstances eg: an employer makes a requirement that employees be over 180 cm tall to do a particular job; if height is not essential to performing the job then this is indirect discrimination against females or some ethnic groups who are less likely to be this height.
